Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problems associated with this life-threatening illness. This is done by providing relief from the suffering by means of early identification and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems by the means of, physical, psychosocial and spiritual healing.

Hence, it is an emerging need of the hour, as the existing health-care facilities play only a limited role in the care of the chronically ill in the society. Kolhapur Cancer Centre is proven to give the ideal and best palliative care for the patients with terminal illness and is in the process of setting up a Hospice named “SAANJAWAT” for the care of terminally-ill cancer patients.
