DNB Surgical Oncology (Super-Speciality)

The DNB Surgical Oncology program at Kolhapur Cancer Centre offers a structured 3-year residency focused on advanced cancer surgery training.

The program provides extensive clinical exposure across major oncology specialties including Head & Neck, Breast, GI, Gynecologic, Thoracic, Urologic, Sarcoma, and Palliative Oncology.

Residents actively participate in high-volume outpatient, inpatient, and operation theatre services, gaining hands-on experience in major and minor oncologic surgeries. The department is equipped with modular operation theatres, laparoscopic facilities, ICU support, endoscopy, and advanced diagnostic imaging.

The academic curriculum includes weekly tumor boards, grand rounds, seminars, journal clubs, M&M meetings, and monthly assessments. Residents receive comprehensive exposure through multidisciplinary involvement with Radiation, Medical, and Hemato-Oncology units.

A strong emphasis is placed on research, with mandatory thesis work, publication opportunities, and participation in conferences. Students are supported with hostel accommodation, canteen services, library access, and dedicated faculty mentorship.

The program aims to develop skilled Surgical Oncologists with strong clinical judgment, operative competence, and academic excellence.
