This department is concerned with the blood and blood related diseases like Blood cancer (Leukemia), Lymphoma, etc. The department has a state-of-the-art Bone Marrow Transplant facility which is the first such advanced facility in South west Maharashtra and the only such facility between Pune and Bangaluru.
Hematology is the science or study of blood, blood-forming organs and blood diseases. Ihematology includes the treatment of blood disorders and malignancies, including types of hemophilia, leukemia, lymphoma and sickle-cell anemia.
Hematology tests include tests on the blood, blood proteins and blood-producing organs. These tests can evaluate a variety of blood conditions including infection, anemia, inflammation, hemophilia, blood-clotting disorders, leukemia and the body's response to chemotherapy treatments.
